《前置詞を取り間違える》自動詞と他動詞の覚え方

 日本語に釣られて余計な前置詞を付けてしまう表現がある。例えば《I discussed about the problem.【その問題について討議した】》は正しいか?答えはNo。この様なウッカリミス自動詞・他動詞を知りたい方はご参照。

1.結論 

前置詞を付けてしまう他動詞前置詞を忘れてしまう自動詞は、

⑴「~について」や「~に」の日本語に釣られて前置詞を付けてしまう。
故に、他動詞は目的語を含めて覚え前置詞の不要を理解する。 

 

⑵また、自動詞は前置詞を含めた一固まりで覚えることを推奨。

 

2. 前置詞を付けてしまう《他動詞》

accompany【~と一緒に行く】
answer【~に答える】

approach【~に近づく】
ask【~に尋ねる】

attend【~に出席する】
contact【~と連絡を取り合う】

discuss【~について議論する】
follow【~について行く】

inform【~に知らせる】
leave【~から去る】

marry【~と結婚する】
obey【~に従う】

oppose【~に反対する】
reach【~に到着する】

resemble【~に似ている】
touch~に触る】、等

(1)to/intoを入れがちな動詞
⇒日本語の「~に」に引っ掛かってしまうので要注意 

:I resemble to my father.
:I resemble my father.
【私は、私の父親似ている】

 

:I reached to my country town in a day.
:I reached my country town in a day.
【私は自分の故郷1日で着いた】

⇒arrived at / got to my country town は正しい表現

 

:He approached to me.
:He approached me.
【彼は私近づいた】

⇒walk up to me は正しい表現

 

:Many students attended to the meeting.
:Many students attended the meeting.
【多くの生徒がミーティング出席した】

attend to ~は【~に注意する/~の世話をする】という意味の自動詞

 

:Please answer to the telephone, 
:Please answer the telephone.
【どうか電話出てください】

 

:She asked to me. 
:She asked me.
【彼女は私尋ねた】

 

:The President entered into the room.
:The President entered the room.
【大統領が部屋入った】

⇒enter into ~は【~を始める/~に参加する】という意味では自動詞

(2)《with》を入れがちな動詞
⇒「~と」
に引っ掛かってしまうので要注意 

:Would you please marry with me ?
:Would you please marry me ?
【どうか私結婚してくれませんか?】

get married to me  は正しい表現

(3)《about 》を入れがちな動詞
「~について」に引っ掛かってしまうので要注意 

 

:Many students discussed about this problem.
:Many students discussed this problem.
【多くの生徒がこの問題について議論した】

 

:You must consider about your position.
:You must consider your position.
【あなたは自分の立場について考慮すべきだ】

(4)《from 》を入れがちな動詞
⇒「~から」に
引っ掛かってしまうので要注意 

 

:You must leave from your house at once.
:You must leave your house at once.
【すぐにあなたは自分の家から去るべきだ】

 

3. 前置詞を付け忘れる《自動詞》

他動詞と勘違いし、前置詞を忘れ易い

【私は彼がパーティーに来るのを反対した】

 

I will hope for your success.
【私はあなたの成功を祈念しています】

wish your successは正しい表現

 

I apologized to her for my stupid word.
【私は彼女に私の愚言を詫びた】

 

I agreed with you on this problem.
【私はあなたとこの問題では同意した】

agree that~【~する事に同意する】の場合は他動詞

 

I have something to complain of .
【私は不満に思うところがある】

 

Please listen to what I say.
【どうか私の言う事を聞いてください】 

 

4. 前置詞で意味が異なる《自動詞》

answer for~【~に責任を負う】
You must answer for this failure.
【あなたは、この失敗の責任を取らなくてはいけない】

 

answer to~【~と合致する/人から報復される事になる】
Anyone who says such a stupid word will answer to me.
【そんな愚かな事を言うやつは、私がただではおかない】

 

apply for~【~に申し込む】
Why are you applying for this job?
【この仕事に応募した理由は何ですか】 

 

apply to~【~に応募する】 
I've decided to apply to job next year.
【来年、新しい仕事に応募することにした】

 

ask for~【~を求める】
I couldn't ask for more.
【これ以上に望むことはできないでしょうね】 

 

ask after~【~の安否を尋ねる】
I saw him today and he asked after you
【今日彼に会ったら、あなたのことを聞かれた】

 

attend to~【~に注意する】
Are you attending to what I am saying?
【私が言ってることに注意していますか】

 

attend on~【~に仕える】
Many servants attends on the king.
【多くの召し使いが王に仕えている】

 

consist in~【~に存する】
Happiness consists in contentment.
【幸福は満足にあり】

 

consist of~【~から成る】
Water consists of two elements.
【水は二つの元素からできている】 

 

correspond to~【~に一致する】
His deeds always correspond to his principles.
【彼の行為はいつも主義と一致している】

 

correspond with~【~と文通する】
I often correspond with my uncle in England.
【私はよくイギリスの叔父と手紙でやりとりする】

 

deal in~【(商売として)~を商う】
He deals in apple. 【彼は林檎を商っている】

 

deal with~【~を取り扱う】
I deal with that in the same way that I deal with this.
【私はそれをこれと同様に処理する】

 

hear of~【~の事を聞く】
I have never heard of this restaurant before.
【このレストランを知らなかった】

 

hear from~【~から便りがある】
I haven't heard anything from him.
【彼からはまだ何の知らせもない】

 

inquire after~【~を見舞う】
She inquired after you.
【彼女はあなたの事を心配して見舞った】

 

inquire about~【~を問い合わせる】
He came to inquire about the examination.  
【彼は試験の事を聞きに来た】

 

inquire into~【~を調査する】
I must inquire into the matter.
【その事について調べる必要がある】

 

look after~【~の世話をする】
I had to look after my little brother while my parents were away.

look for~【~を探す】

look into~【~を調べる】

【調査の上、結果を報告してください】

 

part from~【~と別れる】
I am sorry to part from him.
【彼と別れるのは残念だ】

 

part with~【~を手放す】
I don't think I could ever part with this book my grandfather gave me.
【祖父がくれたこの本を手放す事は、とてもできないだろう】 

 

pass for~【~で通る】
You could pass for a famous actress when you get dressed up.
【あなたはドレスアップしたら、有名な女優と言っても通用するだろう】

 

pass on ~【~を伝える】
I'll pass on your message to him.
【彼にあなたの伝言を伝えるつもりだ】

 

succeed in~【~に成功する】
I felt you lacked the ambition to succeed in business.
【私はあなたがビジネスで成功するという野心が足りない事を感じた】

 

succeed to~【~を引き継ぐ】 
I was only 16 when he succeeded to my father's position.
【父親の跡を継いだとき、私はまだ16歳だった】

 

wait for~【~を待つ】
Don't wait for problems to occur.
【問題が起きるのを待ってはならない】

 

wait on~【~に仕える】 
We'll wait on you hand and foot.
【私たちがあなたの手足となって仕えましょう】
